Well, I know what I'm having for brunch today. :) What could be better than a hot, Philly Steak Sandwich? Especially in the company of good friends, as I will be this morning. . .

I'm making quiche today, and with pictures like this to inspire me, how can I resist?! :)

21st delightful dish. . .

This next one is another one that I cannot wait to try! I've seen fried ravioli before, but never toasted. I am going to have to find me a recipe and whip up a nice batch. Reminiscent of pizza rolls, these take pop-able morsels to the next level. Visually, at the very least. . .

20th dish

Last night, I made copious amounts of Indian Butter Chicken so I felt it only fair to showcase it this morning. This is a delicious dish that is made at least once every couple months in my house. Enjoy!

Nineteenth Pic

I know, I know, I get way too excited about some of these pictures, and this is likely to be one of them. I can't help it, though! I've wanted to try pierogies for years, and I finally found a recipe to overcome the reticence of my dear husband. Potato and onion stuffed, wrapped in bacon and cheddar, these little morsels finally whetted his appetite!

Who knew there were so many different ways to prepare Shepherd's Pie? This is one I think I'll try soon. The ability to see the different layers and ingredients would appeal to some of the pickier eaters in my family. . .

Edit:
I recently found another tempting image of Shepherd's Pie and wanted to share it, too. . . .

Sometimes, the simplest dish can be magnificent, such as this delectable omelet with Roma tomatoes and salad. . .

I love pistachios. I love baklava. Yet, walnuts make my gums break out in painful bumps. What to do?! Today I found the answer! Pistachio Baklava! Yum!

Picture 15

A couple months ago, I had a delicious lunch with a dear friend of mine and woke up this morning craving it. Simple, spicy, flaky, this is an excellent preparation for white fish. I can't wait to make it!

I have been craving (and indulging in) the addition of avocado for a couple of weeks now. I thought I was over it. This picture proved me wrong. Luckily for me, I have buns, burgers, cheese, eggs, greens, and the delectable avocado in my fridge right now. And lo and behold, I've heard it will spoil there if I don't eat it soon. . . .

and bacon. I have that, too. . .

Wedding Wednesday

What could be more appropriate that dedicating a day of the week to the event that dominates most Western minds up until its occurrence? To inaugurate Wedding Wednesday, I thought I'd start with a lovely appetizer dish from a Chinese wedding. It looks almost as delicious as it is beautiful . . .

Pic Twelve

I have long had a soft spot for tiny fruit tarts, and now that I'm older and braver, I think I'm finally going to try making them. They can't be much harder than Pecan Pie, right? Well, I'll let ya know.

Pic Number Eleven

Oh. My. God. I cannot gush about this sandwich enough! Inspired by this photograph, we rushed out and bought the ingredients for the most epic homemade lunch I've had in a while. Of course, that's mainly my fault- I've been very lazy lately, but I'm working hard on changing that now.  Anyway, this sandwich is the perfect reward for hard effort, especially when you add crispy bacon to it, as we did.
Mmmm, juicy burger, melted cheddar, gorgeous green avocado, and sumptuous tomato kissed with caramelized onion and butter-sauteed mushrooms; what more could you ask for? A thin slathering of mayo on toasted sourdough? O.K. that'll work!

Pic Number Ten

I love brussel sprouts, which is rather surprising when I realize I've only ever had them prepared one way, and that method is usually described as rendering the tiny "baby cabbages" bitter and mushy. I stumbled across this picture yesterday and decided then and there that I am trying it next week. The zucchini sticks came out delicious (just have to figure out how to reheat them successfully), so I have high hopes for this dish, as well.

There's just something about the crisp texture of peaches, mixed with the juicy sweetness of berries and the soft, supple give of whipped cream that wins me over every time. . .

Mmmm, delectable!

Pic Number Eight

I'm not sure when I'll be making this, but I think either Spring Break or Summer vacation. Yup. Either of those works around my academic schedule. :)

And here's the recipe I'll be following (with picky-eaters' modifications):

Pic Number Seven

This one I'm actually making tonight. I've already assembled my supplies and am anxious to get started. I only recently realized that the way you cut squash makes a HUGE difference in its taste. Now, I loved green and yellow zucchini before, but oh man, do I adore it sliced lengthwise now! I can't wait to see how these bad boys go over . . . though, I'm not sure if I will go ahead with the pesto flavoring the first time. I'm on the fence about that.

Pic Number Six

These tempting little morsels look like a much easier, less-time-consuming method of getting my spanikopita fix. I love the flaky, spinach-and-cheese filled triangles, but rarely have the inclination to stuff and wrap them. These are a must-try. And soon!

Pic Number Five

I am very excited to try this one out today! What could be better than having your crock pot do all the work of mashed potatoes? I admit, I'm a bit picky on the texture of my 'taters, but these look like they're worth the risk. Besides, I have studying to do, so this should be a boon to a hectic life. :)
That melting pat of butter pooling on the top clinched it for me.

Pic Number Four

I admit, I have a sweet tooth.
It's a picky one, though, apt to change from sophisticated cravings to childish desires on a daily basis. These bars are just pretty enough to tempt me on the sophistication level and easy enough to please my inner child.

Found at
http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/strawberries-and-cream-dessert-squares/ade24a8d-0691-4efd-b846-358d2757780b , these bars are definitely on the to-do list in the near future. As a reward. After I've stuck to my walking regimen for more than two days in a row.

Ah yes, bribery. It works every time. . .

Pic Number Three

There is something compelling about fries with hot, fluffy insides. When you top their crispy goodness with melted Tillamook cheddar (is there any other cheddar so well suited to this dish? I think not) and your favorite chili, the dish is good enough to eat. When you go the extra step of crumbling crunchy, salty bacon atop the molten cheese-and-chili goodness, you've taken an irrevocable step towards greasy Nirvana.

That is, when you're in the mood for chili-cheese fries.

Pic Number Two

Yesterday was the first truly beautiful day, weather-wise, of 2013 where I live. What could taste more like spring than a Belt. That's right.
Belt.
Bacon.
Egg: your choice, hard boiled, poached, fried, whatever floats your boat.
Lettuce: Again, your choice. Perhaps endive with hard boiled slices? or a crisp Romain with a fried egg? or a delicate Butter lettuce with a soft, warm, poached egg?
Tomato: Roma, Beefsteak, halved grape tomatoes? The possibilities are just as numerous as with the egg.
Creativity is your friend with this sandwich. It takes the mundane and lifts it to the extraordinary.

Pic Number One

I have a thing for food. Now that I'm spending more time away from my house, I find that I have to be creative when it comes to keeping me interested in actually cooking. So, in an effort to give myself a goal every week (and to have a reason to try new recipes while salivating over the pictures) I have decided that every day I will find a picture of a delicious-looking meal and post it here, along with any plans I may (or may not) have for trying my hand at the yummy-ness. So, without further ado, I present Yummy Picture of Day Number One:

A simple poached egg with fresh-cracked pepper on toast is sometimes the most perfect meal imaginable. But, I have a sad confession: I can't poach an egg.

At least, I've never been able to before. This weekend (Saturday or Sunday) I shall make it my mission to learn to poach an egg!
